My client require an experienced Data Analyst Engineer to work on an enterprise data initiative to establish a firm-wide single source of truth for security and index reference data with core analytics.

The role is focused on analysis, design and testing of the end-to-end solution including ETL flows, data models, access and distribution APIs. This role will be particularly focused on Issuer, Ratings and Classification data sets.


  • Analysis and documentation of complex data and analytics requirements

  • Identify, analyse and interpret trends/patterns in complex data sets

  • Data analysis, modelling, mapping and gap analysis across vendor solutions and disparate Legacy platforms

  • Design and development of data comparison and validation tools to support gap analysis of vendor solutions

  • Design and development of prototype solutions and workflows, assessment of alternative solution options and recommendations with supporting rationale

  • Pro-active and independent engagement with business and technology partners of varying associate/management levels

  • Communication with vendors to ensure requirements and solutions are clearly articulated

  • Ensure that documentation is high quality, thorough and complete

  • Ensure project deliverable timelines are met and business priorities are delivered

  • Support technical partners with business SME knowledge

  • Identify risks and issues with prompt escalation and proposals for mitigating action


  • At least 5 years investment management/investment banking industry experience

  • Strong business understanding of investment management data, operational processes and data life cycle across front, middle and Back Office

  • Strong experience implementing security reference mastering solutions – Bloomberg PolarLake highly preferred

  • Experience and understanding of a broad range of asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income, Money Market, Mortgages, FX, Derivatives, Municipals

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; demonstrated ability to employ fact-based decision-making to resolve complex problems

  • Agile/Scrum practices, principles, mindset and tools

  • Strong SQL proficiency

  • Ability to take ownership of issues and propose solutions – lean-in attitude

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a global team environment

  • Knows when to seek guidance, avoids getting stuck/rabbit-holes

  • Active listener, excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Data architecture, data model & metadata analysis & design expertise

  • Data mart & data warehouse analysis & design experience

  • AWS cloud experience incl. S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR, Dynamo, Aurora, RDS

  • Experience with cloud-based data processing and database technologies

  • Experience of object-oriented programming language eg Python, R – with programmatic prototyping capabilities

  • Knowledge of statistical modelling, big data analysis and machine learning
