HPC Administrator – £450PD – contract – Wiltshire

Investment in 1D, Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation tools is expanding at rapid pace to meet product developments The software tools are considered enterprise level and an ever increasing demand means a larger investment in high performance computing facilities is required along with dedicated and skilled administration.
Correct maintenance, configuration and monitoring of the HPC facilities is essential in order to achieve return on investment, high efficiency and availability, and to deliver continual improvements through technology adoption.
This is what we need you to do
Work with the Engineering Simulation experts that sit within the IT function and end users to provide a complete HPC service to R&D Stress and Fluid dynamic Engineers.
Installation of software and software upgrades
Configuring queue software
Creating new accounts
Logging hardware faults internally or to external 3rd Party
Liaison between hardware vendors, IT Infrastructure, and Site Facility Teams to resolve hardware issues
Clearing logs / transferring or deleting old data You will be dynamic and self-motivated with a desire to produce the best technical solution possible.You will work closely with the PLM Support Team and with both internal and external infrastructure teams to ensure that escalated incidents and problems are resolved in a timely manner.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Experience of Linux or Centos Operating systems
Solid problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Experience in, and application of Engineering software (ANSYS / STAR CCM / ALTAIR RADIOSS & OptiStruct preferred).
Queue management (LSF or equivalent)
How to configure for best use of resource (FEA and CFD job types) and for optimal performance
Ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders on business needs and technical considerationsDesirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Experience of cloud solutions/partners / working on cloud platforms / working with engineering partners
