Network Engineer [IP Engineer/L2 Support]

Our client, global IT services provider are currently looking for experienced IP Engineers to join their customer team based in Manchester.

This requirement is for migration programme of our client. A Classifier tool has been developed by the team which generates automated reports which will be consumed by the Network teams, TTB partners and the CMDB.

An IP Network Engineer is required to verify and validate L2/L3 customer services in the report generated by Classifier as a Pre- Migration pre-requisite.

This verification and validation will be based on the report produced by Classifier in comparison with the network configuration obtained from the Network Elements. This is required in order to de-risk Migration and the Customer Service Impact after Migration.


  • Troubleshoot and Configure the Access Network using technologies such as Layer 2 Switching and Layer 3 Routing. A good understanding of the following protocols OSPF, ISIS, BGP, Spanning Tree, VRRP, L2VPN, L3VPN, QoS, MPLS, PPP, DHCP, BNG, BRAS.

  • Working with new technology expanding and improving Client Access Network.

  • Complete Network Optimisation and Capacity activities.

  • Cooperate with Field Engineering providing remote support and provisioning of Client Access Network.

  • Manage projects to ensure that network changes are implemented in line with defined change management procedures, with minimal interruption to operational services.

  • Manage network changes (in conjunction with Operations), ensuring that they are implemented with minimal interruption to the end customer.

  • Technical liaison with internal teams and external third party suppliers to manage the investigation and resolution of network issues. o Timely resolution of network incidents, minimising the impact of any network outages.

  • Providing support to the ClientNOC and Operational Teams.

  • Ensure the correct level of documentation is created, reviewed, maintained and adhered to.

  • Create, develop and maintain an asset database for IP equipment.

  • Develop and implement best practice for new works and operational processes and procedures allowing continual service improvement
