A Red Hat Linux Specialist/Server Engineer is required to lead the implementation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and ensure that business-as- usual procedures and documentation are in place to support the ongoing service. The successful candidate will be responsible for appropriate knowledge transfer to existing Unix/Linux engineers. The scope is to deliver a complete end to end Red Hat implementation (Design. Build, test, documentation, knowledge transfer) to the Client including policies and processes.
Essential skills/experience required:
The successful candidate will have experience of the following technologies
Deploying & Managing Red Hat Enterprise 7.6
Database Administration: Cache
Scripting: Bash, Ksh, Perl, Python.
Automation: Cron, Ansible, Puppet
Virtualisation: VMWare Experience of the following technologies would be beneficial HPUX 11i v3 (B.11.31)
Storage: 3PAR San Storage Management, HP EVA Storage Management
Work with Lead Infrastructure Designers, Application Managers, Senior Product Specialists, Health Clinicians, strategists and users to establish requirements for new IT infrastructure services and enhancements to existing systems for product areas for which the post holder is responsible.
Interpret their requirements to define system processes, manage the production of detailed technical specifications, work within the health legislation and policy, and to prepare estimates and timescales.
Create detailed Red Hat Linux Design Documentation as required (High Level Design, and Low Level design/Build documentation) to the Clients standards engaging with other health functions as required with a minimum of supervision.
Creation and execution of testing documentation to the Clients processes (installation qualification and operational qualification)
Lead service developments, managing the work of staff allocated to the project to ensure that products meet the requirements of the specification and adhere to Client standards. Where necessary, providing training and background information to staff who are unfamiliar with the product area.
As part of implementation, work with the Clients Service Management team to ensure that the appropriate ITIL based Service Management processes are in place to support the new service, once live
