UX/UI – TV & Sport Product Design Manager

The product experience is a critical factor in this and the Product Design Manager runs the team of designers who define the experience across these platforms:

TV STB (Set Top Box)
TV App: 8 platforms
Sport App: 9 platforms
Sport STB: 4 platforms


Provide direction for design and user experience across all TV entertainment and Sport products including new product launches and in-life improvements
Work closely with the Product team on strategy for our product set and feed into how our TV & Sport products should evolve
Oversees the creation and management of user journeys, flows wireframes and visuals and prototypes (where appropriate)
Assess, report and triage the work from Product Design and development teams
Lead and represent the Product Design team
Champion UXD practices and user centricity and infuse the culture with a design thinking mindset-a creative approach to solving business, product, and user problems
Organise the skillsets that deliver the UX and interactions to execute and demonstrate great design, including the implementation of processes to ensure designs and wireframes are appropriately planned to meet project timelines
Management of third party design agencies and user research agencies where required
Manage the annual schedule of user testing and prototyping to ensure we're putting the customer at the heart of all our designs
Coordinate and attend user research sessions (face to face, remote, panels) across the team, either in-house, with our set top box partner, or 3rd party

Skills required

Strong commercial awareness of how products drive success and strong instinct for the consumer
Knowledgeable in UX strategy and the drivers of product performance e.g. KPIs
Substantial knowledge and broad experience in product design, covering a breadth of activities and best in class practices and policies
An expert understanding of creating user friendly customer facing features and order journeys
Proven ability to influence and coach at Director level and below and to build key relationships with appropriate business partners
Ability to quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships.
Ability to work highly collaboratively with stakeholders and suppliers – demonstrating strong leadership of real and virtual teams as required.
Delivery focused, relentless in designing products with the right scope and with a passion for excellence
Able to deliver to tight timescales, and deliver innovative solutions that meet stated requirements
Proven coaching and line management experience with the ability to lead and motivate team members.
Passionate about User Centred Design


Strong experience in TV/video product design
Deep understanding of the pay TV and Sport industries
Expert understanding of design fundamentals and how to apply them
A proven ability to manage and develop a team and manage conflicting priorities
Strong commercial awareness of how a good UX drives success and strong instinct for the consumer
Strategic thinking to future proof our product strategies
Proven management level experience working with TV platforms or games consoles / large screen apps
Understanding the complexity of a multi-device product
iOS, Android and responsive Web experiences
Experience providing design support for Agile development teams
Excellent clarity in wireframes, logic flows, prototypes and documentationPreferred:

Ability to select and manage vendors for solution management and evaluate vendor performance
Technical web / implementation knowledge a bonus (useful in the communication of ideas to development teams and the broader TV group)
